Snow, snow, and more snow

This morning was absolutely insane!  I was scheduled to do my weekly 8k Time Trial, but the amount of snow that fell overnight prohibited this.  The roads in my neighborhood had yet to be plowed, making it extremely difficult to run.  I plodded my way to the main roads which were much better.  I ended up just running at a comfortable pace, and got 8.76 miles in before calling it quits.  The wind gusted pretty strongly at different points, whipping snow into my eyes and face which was very irritating.  All in all I was very happy to just get out and get some miles in.  Until next time, run hard and run well! Read More

BRRRRRRR Pt. 3

Man, these temps and wind chills are just rough on us runners.  And yet, my hatred for treadmills still trumps my utter contempt for weather like this.  Today was another hill repeat day.  I was still feeling quite sore from my weekend runs, so I wasn't sure how things would go.  All in all things went pretty good though.  My 22 minute warm up did wonders to get the blood flowing and my leg muscles warmed up.  I did 10 2 minute hill repeats and then another 18 minute cool down.  I was glad to get back home and inside, away from the elements.   How fortunate we are to be able to get away and find refuge from the elements!  How often do… Read More

BRRRRRR again!

It was cold again today, but not as cold as yesterday.  The temps were around 13 with wind chill of 0 so much better.  I got 15.76 miles in today in 2hrs. and 30mins.  Definitely felt the effects of yesterday's workout.  Between the two days I ran 26.26 miles in 3:59:00.  I know that doesnt' equal a marathon, but I'm pretty happy with the weekend's results.  Starting the new year off right!   I'm definitely looking forward to a day off tomorrow.  I can sleep in and then head back to work.  Haven't been there in a week and a half now.  The break has really been good.  Heard a great message at church this morning based on Psalm 73;… Read More

It's so cold out right now!  In fact, I pushed my workout today and tomorrow's from the morning to the afternoon so that it could warm up a few degrees.  I hate running out when the wind chills are -15 and below, so I am trying to move things around and adjust. Today's workout was 1hr. 30min. easy run, but it kind of got away from me a little.  In this cold I ran 10.5 miles but should have been more around the 9 mile mark.  Hopefully I have enough for a good effort for tomorrow's 2hr. 30min. workout.  Mile 9 I ran in 7:57 and at that point I knew I needed to take a second short walk break just to give my muscles a break.  That's about the… Read More
