Living WITH God or FOR God

Is there a difference?

I was sitting in my recliner this morning, alone, while my family is at my mother-in-laws house because I got sick in the middle of the night.  I supposed to leave tomorrow to my parents house for a few days.  I was sitting there watching  Hillsong Kids dvd, Tell The World and feeling sorry for myself in so many ways.

My mind floated back to a good friend’s posting in facebook today.  It’s Christmas day, and his question was something to the effect of should our focus be on giving and receiving gifts to each other, or to Christ?

I started thinking about my TWV Comrades Marathon trip, how our goal is to help so many kids, families, and communities.  And I began to reflect on how blessed I am that even when I throw up three times whether from the flu or just food not sitting right, I can relax in the comfort of my home, take some medicine, and relax.  So many die every day from simple things with simple fixes.  And I began to think about the difference between living WITH God and living FOR God.

And I think the major difference is that when I focus on living with God, I’m open to His help every day.  When I focus on living FOR Him, my focus is always on myself, how I can do better and improve and so forth.  Not a huge difference, but I think one that drastically impacts outcome.

So, are YOU living WITH God today or FOR God?  Simple question really; it’s more about a matter of perspective I think.  But the help and power we receive when we live WITH God is so beyond words.  Thank you for revealing this to the simple minded like myself today Father!  Help me to live more and more WITH You every single day!

Merry Christmas Jesus!
