Prayer-Confessional
Prayer.
Simple yet powerful.
So easy, yet sometimes so difficult.
Of the utmost importance. Really?
I know this to be true in my head, but I rarely live it out. I came across a quote in the book The Hole In Our Gospel by Richard Stearns. He quotes Gary Gulbranson as once saying, “It’s not what you believe that counts; it’s what you believe enough to do.”
IT’S NOT WHAT YOU BELIEVE THAT COUNTS; IT’S WHAT YOU BELIEVE ENOUGH TO DO. Doh! (Said in my best Homer Simpson impersonation) I mean, if I really believed that prayer was powerful, helpful, reliable, and effective, I would do it more right?
I am tired, worn out, burn out, stressed, lacking sleep (average 3 hours a night the past 2 weeks), etc. The last thing I feel like doing is wrestling with God in prayer over stuff that’s going on in my life. It feels like I lack the energy needed to focus and listen to God in silence. It’s much “easier” to go on about my day and do things my own way.
WHEN WILL I EVER LEARN???!!!!
Doing things my own way is really working well right now! Sometimes we can complicate things so much can’t we? I mean, I feel all God wants of me this morning is to sit in His presence for a few minutes and just BE with Him. Not really too much to ask. I need to do this more. I would venture we all need to do this more. God wants us to do this more! So, I am going to quit typing now and sit with God for a few……….
